my taste in music is kind of all over the place so prepare yourself for a wild ride, although I also listen to a lot of kpop (I've kinda been slacking on keeping up with releases over the past year tho oops) and we definitely have some overlap in favorite albums

I apologize in advance for how long this post is going to become but you're really opening the floodgates by letting me talk about music lol

(it's been a very dry year for my favorite metal bands or this list would've been even more chaotic lmao)

1) Dear Insanity... by DPR Ian

while I struggled to rank most of these, there was absolutely no question about my #1 album of the year. I only just discovered DPR Ian in 2023 and he very quickly became my favorite artist ever. you might have even seen me talk about this album an unhealthy amount of times already lol. he's just such an insanely good artist and every single song on this album is just soooo damn good.

part of why I love him so much is also the story he tells throughout his music videos and just how insanely good all of his MVs look and how well the visuals fit the music so I feel obligated to link the MV to my favorite song off this album:

2) The World Ep.2: Outlaw by Ateez

everything Ateez releases is immediately getting added to my favorites, what can I say. I didn't have the money to go to their 2023 tour but I did see them live in 2022... absolutely worth the one and only time I ever caught corona. not a single bad song on this album, they're all absolute bangers.

3) Take Me Back To Eden by Sleep Token

I only just discovered Sleep Token in 2023 but I absolutely fell in love with this entire album and their style in general. almost got to see them live but then I ended up getting surgery on the exact day of their concert... :')

4) OO-LI by Woodz

I am a Woodz stan first and a human second. I'm convinced this man is incapable of releasing bad music, everything he does is just so damn good and I love how he explores a bunch of different genres while still making all of his music just sound like him y'know

also honorable mention to Amnesia which is only a single album so it didn't make the list but if you like more eerie stuff and the general vibe of his music, definitely check it out, I love it so much

5) On My Youth by WayV

WayV will forever have me in a chokehold. they've been my favorite NCT unit since their debut and honestly also the only unit I managed to properly keep up with over the last year ashgasj. I just really love their style of music and how they've actually been sticking to it

6) The Name Chapter: Temptation by TXT

It's truly been a TXT kinda year for me, I've been listening to them a lot. there aren't many songs on this album but I still love it so so much, all of the songs are great and Sugar Rush Ride is such a unique title track

7) Dark Blood by Enhypen

honestly Enhypen are part of the reason why I might have to update my top 3 kpop groups to a top 5 lol. all of their albums so far have been great and this one was no different, I still listen to a lot of the songs on it on repeat

8) RUSH! (Are U Coming?) by Måneskin

well what can I say, Måneskin have had me in a chokehold ever since they won the Eurovision and I actually got to see them live in 2023! drove all the way over to Berlin for them and everything, great album with great songs. I love both their more rock-ish songs and their slower songs and this album has a great mix of both (although I wish there would've been some more Italian songs on here)

9) MONO by K.Flay

K.Flay has been one of my more underrated faves for a couple years by now and I'll take any chance to gush about her music. there's just something very unique about K.Flay's music and this album certainly didn't disappoint. honestly, the only reason why I ended up putting this one on the "last" place is that I haven't listened to it as much as the other albums on this list

ODD-VENTURE by MCND

this is a rather recent one so I haven't listened to it enough for it to make the list, but I love everything MCND put out and this is definitely also a great album! (plus the title track is yeehaw kpop which is incredibly creative of them and I didn't know I needed that in my life)

HAPPYPILLS by Utsu-P

and this is where I expose the true chaotic nature of my taste in music lmao. Utsu-P's music is the perfect clash of world's between teen-me's obession with vocaloid and current-me's love for metal. I didn't include this album bc I still haven't gotten around to listening to all of it, but the songs that I did listen to, I absolutely loved

Phantomime by Ghost

oh you thought you made it through an entire post of me talking about music without mentioning Ghost? Hah, fool. jokes aside, this is an album full of cover songs so I didn't include it but it's still full of bangers. I reached audio cap now but I'll include their Jesus He Knows Me cover bc this was an absolute treat to witness live:

Amount of sleep: Not enough. In all seriousness: usually around 6h, but I know I need more (and I can feel it).

Dream job: Professional Depeche Mode fan/Eurovision expert (On a serious note: I don't really know.Not sure if I even have a dream job)

Favorite song: I could make a playlist of my top 10 or 20 favorite songs ever. So this shall be my favorite song by my favorite band: Higher Love by Depeche Mode.

Movie/Book that Summarises Me: As I'm going to mention it later, I have many layers & don't think there is one specific movie/book that sumarises me. Let's say a movie: Amelie, tv show: Dark, cartoon: Daria, book: any of Banana Yoshimoto's books (that are translated into English).

Favorite Instrument: A's hands, his long fingers in particular. Ok pretend that you did not read the first sentence. I guess it is old fashioned synths. Like the ones that were mostly used in the late 70s and through the 80s.

Aesthetic: I call it "Depends on my mood and season if the year" haha. But if we let the girl dream it is: 80s /cottagecore/goth or just so called "dark" aesthetic. What can I say? Human onion with many layers lol.

Favorite authors: Banana Yoshimoto is my number one. I also like Taylor Jenkins - Reid, Aimee Bender, Jurga Ivanauskaitė, Gillian Flynn.

Random Fun Fact:

* I can't swim.

* I went to my French exam totally unprepared (without any revision) and got 80 points out of 100. It was an A level exam, by the way. However, after graduating from high school I've been rarely using the language so I don't know about the state of my skills.

* Twice while traveling I sat by a random person & started a convo just to pass the time. Both times, after like half an hour we realized that we're Lithuanians... who were speaking with each other while thinking that we're foreigners.

Question for hikers and people with large fruit/veg gardens :

I am considering buying myself a drying oven to make my own camping food, as the ration packs from outdoor stores are ridiculously overpriced here (and I don't want to lug around canned or fresh foods for multiple day hikes).

Does anyone have any experience with these, and what to avoid ?

It needs to be small, as I live in a single room/w kitchenette flat.

Tumblr decided I wasn't allowed to send an rant the other day, so you get a marginally better thought out ask now. As an Icelandic person Icelandic and Nordic language speaker I am very very tired of people throwing in random "old norse" or Icelandic or any of the Scandinavian languages into their fics for idk "Woke" points. Ended up in the Norse mythology tag on ao3 through some Loki fic exploring and the amount of incorrectly used words was just like *sigh* instant turn off to read that fic. Some tried their best but obviously didn't research how names work, much like the Eurovision movie writers. Others just took a place or character name with Icelandic letters and then added English grammar rules to it..... its not Ásgarðian it would be "frá Ásgarði" conjugation is a thing and even then in the context they used it should have just been Ásgarðar. I'm just tired of I guess people attempting to be different and then completely screwing up in that language. Its the same cringe I get when someone throws in random Japanese into a fic. But since its not as common, our languages much smaller it doesn't get much notice or attention or even discussion. Its like people even do not realise that Norse Ásatrú is still practiced, it has never truly died out, only gone underground. Some years ago, about when the second Thor movie was released I had the energy to send someone a message on ff.net and became a sort of translation Beta for them but now I just sigh and move past those fics. I'm just like am I being unreasonable in asking that people properly research their writing before attempting to use my native language in a fic.

I don't think you're being unreasonable. Well... okay... expecting people to put even one second of thought into their fic is unwise and possibly unreasonable. LOL.

But being kind of down because you come from a culture people overlook and have no clue is alive and extant is completely reasonable. It's common to everybody who isn't from a tiny handful of countries--and only the most dominant cultural strains therefrom.

Last tv show: I watched the eurovision finals if that counts - otherwise probably good omens back when it came out. I do not generally enjoy watching tv lol

Last song: Deuteronomy 2:10 by the mountain goats literally Just finished. appropriate for tumblr. in the process of writing this however The Foggy Dew by the chieftans and sinéad o'connor came on so technically it is the last.

Currently watching: literally nothing :( I did watch a fun bizarre beasts vid on bonnethead sharks recently if that counts for anything?

Currently reading: I'm working my way through Huckleberry Finn for the first time which has honestly surprised me with how much I enjoy it - I guess i expected it to be dense and boring but it's really funny? technically im also partway thru a bunch of other things bc im incapable of reading one thing at a time but given i can't think of them right now i can safely assume i havent picked them up in a while. Mostly though I'm doing a lot of reading for my thesis so that has kinda killed the Reading For Pleasure urge, at least until it comes time for my biannual reread of the martian :)

instruments: i can't play any instruments (i only briefly played the piano as a child) but i am a trained singer, so if we count my voice lol?

aesthetic: i like both dark academia and several variations of goth aesthetic as well as vintage, victorian/edwardian and artsy aesthetics, but i don't really dress like that bc i'm too dissatisfied with my body size/shape to pursue a specific aesthetic other than classic, clean cut, basic-but-stylish dark clothes and gold jewellery

favourite author: Nick Hornby, though it's been a long time since i read any of his books now. And Oliver Sachs!

So 13 hours hypothetically but this doesn't count the time it takes for me to fall asleep or when I wake up in the middle of the night randomly.

Dream Job: Don't have one. I'm studying to be a Computer Engineer though since that's what my father did.

Wearing-Sweat pants and a green jacket/hoodie. Sometimes I switch it out for a red one. Other than that, I just wear that every single day. It's become my iconic look at this point.

Favorite Song: None. Like seriously, you gotta specify which genre, whether it can be game music or not, mainstream or indie youtube creators, etc. Aviators is one of my favorite indie creators though and I love the band "A Fall to Break"

Instrument-I played recorder once in 4th grade. I was semi good at it. Does this count? I do like singing and I like to think I'm pretty decent at it.

Last Film: I haven't seen any film lately; I've been busy studying for different exams. BUT, the latest one had been Spider-Man: No Way Home, of which I ranted in my page because OMG SERIOUSLY?

I'll probably re-watch the Harry Potter Franchise some day. It's been a while since I watched the films!

Currently reading: I'm mainly reading fics at the moment, as the exams are taking me quite a great amount of time and they're enough to entertain myself. However, Sally Rooney's Beautiful World, Where Are You is in my nightstand table waiting for me to finish the exams.

Currently watching: *Won't repeat myself I'm busy*. Once I finish, I want to rewatch Bridgerton again. Never getting tired of it. 🤣

-Måneskin entire discography (specially In Nome del Padre which I think it's so underrated)

-Blind Channel entire discography (specially Revolutions, I’m obsessed with that album)

-Hatari discography (the amount of times I've listened to Hatrid Mun Sigra yesterday... it's concerning to say the least)

And the English and Germans belive us lmao. they were “Congrats!! you deserve it and blabla” All of us drunk, and celebrating for Spain’s imaginary victory. They paid us some beers so everything went well dghaghaask
